How does one go about replacing what most will agree as the best handling road going Ferrari ever? Could Ferrari really produce a car that lowers engine displacement, adds turbo chargers and lowers its legendary high revving engine and still best the 458?
The answer is simple, oh yes they can! By cutting displacement and adding boost, Ferrari made fundamental changes to the new 488 mainly to focus on the emissions and the fuel economy end of things. However this is not your mother’s turbo mini-van. Dropping engine displacement from 4.5 to 3.9 and strapping on two turbo’s, the all new engine produces a jaw dropping 661hp and 560ft/lbs of torque available at 3,000rpm’s.
Refining the 488’s gearbox software, the 488 produces shifts the 458 could only dream of. With the induction of Ferrari’s second generation Slip Control, the 488 seems to encourage performance driving inviting those who sit behind to wheel to explore its nearly limitless handling. We couldn’t be happier to welcome the all new 488 to the Dream Racing Family!
