The performance capabilities offered by the new 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 are truly astonishing, though not completely unexpected. The Z06 shatters even the high standards set for 21st century sports cars. With 650hp and 600ft/lbs of torque, one would think this car is a straight line, one trick pony. However the devil truly is in the details. With a newly designed 8-speed automatic transmission cracking off shifts quicker than Porsche’s legendary PDK gearbox, and magnetic suspension once reserved for high end Italian Supercars. GM’s engineers stiffened the chassis 20% more than its C6 older brother, designed a body and aerodynamic package producing more downforce than any other production vehicle GM has ever built. GM then packed the Z06 with a list of driver aids a mile long including sport and track modes, and an electronic limited slip differential to put it all to the ground. Conclusion: This is not your grandfathers Stingray.
